Which is better, cold runner or hot runner?

Barry,

It really depends upon your annual quantity requirements. If producing more than one million a year then the extra cost of a hot runner can be justified.

The advantages of hot runners are: no runner to regrind which means there are material,labour and energy savings.

Hot runners also reduce cycle time.

The advantage of a cold runner mold is the low price compared with a hot runner mold.
